ABU SIMBEL -
280 Km S of Aswan, near the Second Cataract (now drowned under the waters of Lake Nasser). Constructed during the reign of Rameses II (1290-24 BC).Dedicated to Amun-Re of Thebes.

Base measurement 746 ft/227.5m (originally 756 ft/230.38 m), vertical height 450 ft/137.20 m (originally 481 ft/146.5m), angle of inclination 51.51' Cubic content of structure is 3 million cu. yds/2.3 million cu. m Originally fully cased in limestone.
